Advent 2 – Love – December 6,  2020 Order of Worship

Welcome and Announcements: Includes showing the decorated church

Lighting the Advent Candle – Love:

We gather on this second Sunday of Advent as one of many
congregations from around the world united by Christ’s love.

As we light the second candle, the candle of love we give thanks as we remember
love became incarnate in the form of the Christ child.
Emmanuel—God with us- ever present and ever faithful.
May we continue this Advent journey together confident of God’s immeasurable
love for us may we – expectant that what is being birthed within us will
become blessings to others.

Prayer: Let us Pray
Your love, O God, is holy and supreme.
Teach us Your way of love, and help us to walk in it.
In the blessing of your covenant, you created us a community of your love.
In the fullness of time you sent us Jesus, a man of love that risked all for the sake of the world.
In your resurrection power, you have revealed your love to all humanity.
Help us, O God, to reveal your love as we discover anew the tremendous power of the Christmas story and meet again the Christ-child, born anew among us.
Teach us the way of love, and help us to walk in it.
Amen and Amen.

Let the bells ring out calling us to worship together as we gather in many different places at different times.

Oh come all faithful. Come and Worship Christ the King
Our Choral Response to the call this morning is Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Choral Response: O Come All Ye Faithful

Prayer of Illumination:

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no
secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we
may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ
our Lord. Amen.

I have sworn to my servant David:
‘I will establish your descendants forever,
and build your throne for all generations.’”
