Prayers of the People

Pastor: Have mercy on us, O God, according to your loving kindness; in your great compassion, hear our prayers.

People: We pray for the whole church, all leaders and ministers, and all the holy people of God. Wash us through and through, cleansing us from our sin.

Pastor: We pray for our nation, for all the nations of the earth, and for all who govern and judge. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Draw us ever closer to you as we seek to be in your presence

People: Purge us from our sin. And we shall be pure.

Pastor: We pray for those who hunger, those who thirst, those who cry out for justice, those who live under the threat of terror, and those without a place to lay their head. Make them hear of joy and gladness. For those who are persecuted for their faith grant them holy courage to stand strong in the face of all evil and danger.

People: May those who are broken in spirit rejoice and may the gospel be shared to the ends of the earth.

Pastor: We pray for those who are ill, in pain, under stress, lonely and grieving. Give them the joy of your mercy and compassion. Bring hope as they look to you for their care.

People: Sustain them with your bountiful Spirit.

Pastor: In this season of Lent we pray for those who are seeking a Savior. Make us a welcoming community ready to serve with your grace and hospitality. Lord, grant all of us the humility to repent of sins, a receptive spirit ready to embrace your teaching and a heart passionate to serve your mission and keep our eyes focused on you, O God.

People: Show each one of us our part in offering the invitation to know Christ and to celebrate with us as we prepare to walk to the cross and to rejoice on Easter morning with the resurrection.

Pastor: Lord walk before us on the Lenten journey. Lead us to rejoice for our salvation. For we were estranged from you in this fallen world until Christ paid the ultimate price of his life for our sins. Through Christ’s death and resurrection we are reconciled to you as his redeemed. And so with the confidence of your children let us pray the prayer Christ gave his disciples when he prayed . . . Our Father
