Prayers of the People

Pastor: Let all God’s people offer praise and rejoicing!

People: Praise God who establishes God’s reign in the heart of God’s people.

Pastor: Jesus encourages us to love each other with tenderness, compassion, and hope.

People: Let us love one another as Christ loved us.

Pastor: We confess that we have sinned and fallen short of your glory. Hear us as we confess our sins. Through the shed blood of Jesus and the forgiveness that comes because of His perfect sacrifice, let us be blameless, as though we had never done wrong.

People: Forgive us and keep us from willful sins. Forgive us from any sin that rules over us and break the bonds of that which keeps us dependent on anything or anyone but you. Grant us pardon from our great transgressions.

Pastor: Lord, for all those around us who work for our safety and care – the civil authorities, government officials, the police, firefighters, doctors and nurses, first responders, military and all others who are given such high levels of responsibility – give them strength and your holy wisdom.

People: Lord, hear our prayers and bring revival to our land. We pray for those who are suffering many kinds of loss, those who are sick and all who have asked for prayer on the prayer chain. We pray for the people of the Ukraine and ask you to move in the heart of their enemies to repent. Lord, bring an end to war and provide restoration.

Pastor: For all who are persecuted for their faith. Grant them your strength and protection. We give thanks for your blessings and protection for Alexander Chapel UMC. Keep our eyes on the mission you have for us and guide our leaders to seek you in all things.

People: Lord, we ask to continue to watch over this church and our pastors. Grant them your strength and wisdom as they lead our church for your kingdom glory. Be with Pastor Ray today as he brings your message for today. Let his words be your words that bring spiritual revival and spiritual growth.

Pastor: We make our prayer today following Christ’ example he gave his followers as he prayed . . .

All: The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
