Prayers of the People
Pastor: Gracious God, you are Lord of our beginnings and our endings and all that lies between.
People: We praise you for how you have poured out upon us blessing after blessing; for how you have reached out to us; for how you have come to us and how you have spoken to us.
Pastor: Help us to live our faith in ways that bring honor to your name. We confess that we often fail to be your faithful people. Hear us as we individually confess our sins, repent and seek to draw closer to you.
People: Lord, hear our prayer, forgive and draw us close to you.
Pastor: We give thanks that Christ took our sins upon himself – suffering pain and death. It is with thanksgiving and praise that we rejoice in your resurrection and our salvation. We pray for those who are persecuted around the world for faithfully sharing the gospel and living their faith. Lord, grant them strength.
People: Lord, hear our prayers for the saints. Help us to commit ourselves to you more fully than ever before.
Pastor: We pray for those who are sick and for those grieving many kinds of loss. We pray for all who are not able to be with us. Hear our prayers for those listed on the prayer chain and meet their needs as only you can.
People: Hear us in our prayers. We ask for your will to be done.
Pastor: Today we pray for America and our leaders. Turn their hearts toward you as they govern. Lord, guide our nation and send holy revival to our land. Be with all who place themselves in danger for our safety and care for their families. Make us mindful of our many blessings.
People: Lord, hear our prayer. Guide and strengthen our pastors as they lead us. Keep your hand upon them, strengthen them and grant them your wisdom.
Pastor: We ask for your continued guidance and protection upon Alexander Chapel UMC. Make us good stewards of all you have entrusted to our care. Guide our church leaders and the mission you have for this church. Lord, give us vision to move this church into the future with your plan.
People: Lord, hear our prayers and lead us. Send friends to join us in ministry. Show each one of us what we must do as your faithful people in this church.
Pastor: Lord, pour out your Holy Spirit upon Pastor Marjory as she proclaims your Word today. Let her words be your message of holy transformation. We make our prayer following the example Christ gave his disciples
Sermon Scripture: 1 Samuel 7: 3 – 14
Sermon: Ebenezer Moments
Consider all the ways God speaks to us through our Ebenezer moment. How ask God spoken to you in your life:
God speaks through memories.
God speaks through his Word.
God speaks through the miraculous move of the Holy Spirit.
God speaks through our prayers
Closing Hymn: Come Thou Fount of Every Blessings
Benediction
