Prayers of the People

Leader: Holy God, lead us on the journey forward in Lent.

People: Creating God, from the beginning you called your servants on a journey to live and trust.

Leader: You called your servants on a journey to love and lead.

People: You called your servants on a journey to rebuild and be faithful.

Leader: Your Son called his disciples to follow him on a journey to the cross; a road to save, a road to heal, a road to love.

People: You call us to walk with him on that same road. Holy God, lead us on the journey forward. Your Holy Spirit called the church to proclaim your word of life. Women and men, young and old, all were called and commissioned.

Leader: We who are Alexander Chapel are part of that same journey. We pray for courage and discipline.

People: Holy God, lead us on the journey forward.

Leader: Gracious God, we thank you for the lenten journey. May it be a time of self-examination and drawing closer to the love of Christ.

People: We, your people, thank you for your presence with us in the waters of baptism. Holy God, lead us on the journey forward.

Leader: Healing God, we thank you for strength in times of temptation, loneliness, and difficulty. We thank you for your guidance. We, your people, are no strangers to changing paths and we pray for your presence in all situations.

People: God of all grace, we thank you for the invitation to be part of your kingdom.

Leader: Lord, hear our prayers for

● All who have requested the prayers of the church ● For the sick, grieving, lonely and in need

● Our national and world leaders to seek and follow your ways

● For your church worldwide to be faithful

● Keep your holy hand on all who are persecuted for their faith and grant them strength to stand strong

● Guide and Protect Alexander Chapel. Keep us in your care. Continue to be our protection and guide.

People: Be with our pastors. Give them your wisdom and strength as they lead the church. Be with Pastor Ray as he brings the sermon today. Let his words be your message or transformation that speaks into our hearts today.

Leader: And now with the faith of your children, we pray following the example Christ gave his disciples as he prayed.

All: The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
