Prayers of the People

Leader: Gracious God, you are Lord of our beginnings and our endings and all that lies between.

People: We praise you for how you have poured out upon us blessing after blessing; for how you have reached out to us; for how you have come to us and how you have spoken to us.

Leader: Help us to live our faith in a way that brings honor to your name. We confess that we often fail to be your faithful people. Hear us as we individually confess our sins, repent and seek to draw closer to you.

People: Lord, hear our prayer, forgive and draw us close to you.

Leader: We give thanks for Christ who took our sins upon himself – suffering pain and death. It is with thanksgiving and praise that we rejoice in your resurrection and our salvation.

People: We pray for those who are persecuted around the world for faithfully sharing the gospel and living their faith. Lord, grant them strength. Help us to commit ourselves to you more fully than ever before.

Leader: We pray for all who are sick and grieving many kinds of loss. Hear our prayers for those listed on our prayer chain and others we remember. We lift all up to your sovereign grace.

People: Hear us as we pause to lift up our silent requests and praises.    (Pause

Leader: Today we pray for America and our leaders. Lord, be our guide and send holy revival to our land. Be with those who protect the peace and give aid in dangerous places. While they serve us, make us mindful of our many blessings.

People: Lord, hear our prayer.

Leader: We ask for your continued guidance and protection upon Alexander Chapel UMC. Make us good stewards of all you have entrusted to our care. Guide our church leaders and the mission you have for this church.

People: Lord, hear our prayers and lead us. Send people to join us in ministry. We pray for our pastors and their ministry. Lord bring the anointing of your Holy Spirit upon today’s message. May our hearts receive holy hope and transformation.

Leader: With the confidence of God’s children, let us pray together following Christ’s example . . All: Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
