Prayers of the People

Pastor: We will exalt you, O God our King; And praise your Name for ever and ever. For you alone are worthy of all honor and adoration.

People: Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your name: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

Pastor: We are the Body of Christ. In the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Lead us to pursue all that makes for holy  peace and builds up our life in community for the glory of your kingdom.

People: Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; in your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. Uphold us by your Spirit that we may live and serve you in the newness of life, to the honor and glory of your Son, Jesus Christ.

Pastor: We bring our requests before your throne. Hear our prayers for the Church universal, of which this body is called  a visible symbol. Care for all who face persecution for their witness and grant them your hope and strength in the face of great suffering.

People: Hear our prayers for the saints around the world and show us our mission of service to the world for we know we are called to be your caring church in action.

Pastor: We pray for those living with grief, fear or sickness and ask for your holy touch. Hear our prayers for all who have requested prayer from this church.

People: May your living Word bring comfort and healing.

Pastor: We pray for the leaders of nations, and for those in authority under them. Give them the gift of your wisdom, and a right discernment in all things.

People: Speak your Word of peace to the nations and help us to serve one another as Christ so selflessly served. Be with those who are stuffing the effects of violence and the ravages of war. Restore their hope.

Pastor: In our worship move in us to be still and know that you are God. Let us welcome the gift of the Holy Spirit and new life in Christ our Savior. We give thanks for blessings of the past and for a vision for the future.

People: We ask for your continued care and protection over Alexander Chapel UMC. Guide and bless our upcoming pastor transition. Lead us to be good stewards of this precious mission post. Be with Pastor Ray as he brings the message and speak through him for your glory.  Center us to hear and be transformed.

Pastor: With confidence we pray following Christ’s example when he prayed . . . Our Father. . .

All: Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.
