Prayers of the People
Pastor: All mighty Lord,You are the great King of all the earth. You subdue the nations before us and put our enemies under our feet. Our hearts are confident in You, Father. Because of this confidence, we will sing Your praises among the nations for Your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
People: Today we give thanks that you love us despite how we sometimes act or think. Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with Your wisdom that teaches us how to share love with others. Forgive us as we repent of our sins, seek to know you more fully and live for you more faithfully.
Pastor: Lord lead us to love you with all our heart, mind and soul. In the same Spirit, we also commit to loving our neighbors as ourselves. We confess that the Holy Spirit fills and controls us as we commit to doing Your will. We commit to living a righteous life. We will be patient and will not return evil with evil. We will let our light shine so that people will see our good works and glorify You, our Father.
People: Holy Spirit, show us how to truly love the Father with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Reveal to us those habits, mindsets and attitudes that prevent us from being truly surrendered to the Father. Help us to not deceive ourselves by thinking we are walking in love while using our tongues to belittle other who have been made in the Father’s image. In this world where we are told to put ourselves first, help us to truly put the Father first in our lives, and to esteem others better than ourselves.
Pastor: Show us our need of you so that we can receive your help. Hear our prayers for the church universal as we lift up Alexander Chapel UMC to you. Keep us faithful to your vision and mission. Keep us ever mindful of how you
protect and care for your church. Lord, continue to walk with us and teach us your ways.
People: May we continually honor your name, praising you for the good news of your kingdom. Make us effective caretakers of all you have entrusted to us. We give thanks for our blessing. Hear our prayers for the church and our pastors. Watch over them. Grant to Pastor Ray and Marjory your wisdom, strength and tender care. Continue to speak into our lives and lead us to follow you faithfully.
Pastor: Today we pray for
Our nation seeking forgiveness for how we have failed to follow you faithfully. Guide our leaders at every level of government to seek your ways.
We pray for all who place themselves in danger for our wellbeing
For those who are sick, the lonely and the grieving we pray for hope and healing
Hear our continued prayers for all who have requested the prayers of the church
People: Lord hear our prayers. As Pastor Ray brings the message, touch him afresh with your Holy Spirit power. Speak through him in ways that penetrate our souls and transform our lives.
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
